ABOUT
My name is Gareth, and I have been filming dance montage / promos for almost 15 years. My wife was a West End performer and former Royal Ballet pupil, and she has been running her own dance school for over 25 years. Her school in the early days had approx 250 pupils, and an ageing website. I decided to go part time at my workplace as we both saw a potential to grow the school. We upgraded and restructured the website, made several promotional videos highlighting the school and highlighted our unique selling points.
In just over 2 years, the school had grown to 500 and today it has approximately 1000 pupils.
I am now in a position to offer my services as a videographer to other hard working schools out there at a fraction of the cost of larger production houses. I have a full Enhanced DBS, I am a licensed chaperone with my local council, and I have worked with children for many years.
SOME OF THE VIDEOS THAT HELPED OUR DANCE SCHOOL
We did a short "story" of a child's dream to grow up being a ballerina (the child actor was the daughter of one of the teachers). The video's goal was to demonstrate to parents that the school had the potential to nurture and develop young children through to late teenage years, and dispel the misconception that ballet isn't fun.
Getting children in young is one of the key areas to growing a dance school and convincing parents that you are the right fit is key. Displaying animated teachers, parental enjoyment and testimonials reassures new parents that structured toddler dance classes can be fun and rewarding, and vital for their early co-ordination.
Parents and children are often oblivious to how important ballet is if they want to continue dance as a profession. RSB wanted a video to highlight how continuing ballet alongside other disciplines is extremely beneficial. It demonstrates the positive attributes ballet teaches children, and how the professional outside world appreciates the benefits of continued study.
Musical Theatre is now one of the most popular dance styles. For many of our shows (to sell more tickets and promote), we did some filming of the dress rehearsal and some green screen footage - something we can cover for any event.
One of our earliest promos filmed on an old Canon 70D camera. Although a little long by today's standards, it shows the breadth of what can be achieved. Today, our Sony cameras are now much more advanced and higher resolution.
A ballet workshop led by a member of the Royal Ballet Company. We can do one off events of any kind for your business. This was filmed on 2 cameras (1 operator for lower cost).
DO I NEED A PROMOTIONAL VIDEO?
Along with a streamlined website, our videos made a large impact on dance schools' revenue, making local people more aware of what you offer and the potential it can bring to their children.
Many parents just don't have the time to read website texts and compare different dance schools. In 2 - 3 minutes, they could know everything about what you offer in a simple and informative video, reassuring customers that your school is the right one for their child.
COST - Can I justify spending on a promo video?
To put it simply, yes! Nowadays, customers prefer shorter video content than researching website texts, so learning about your business through video is far more beneficial than words. If you think a promo is far too expensive, please contact us. You'll be surprised how achieveable and quickly the process is, giving you the time to concentrate on running your business.

CONCEPT
After initial contact, where you can explain what you would like to achieve, we then look at your location and your nearest competitors to see what they offer. We then work out a simple strategy for an effective video to promote your school. If you have any particular videos you have seen on YouTube, please let us know as this will help us visualise what you are trying to achieve.
FILMING
We film with one fully enhanced DBS cameraman, with 1 - 2 cameras to keep costs down. Depending on your location, we can film your school over 1 - 3 days and the video shoot can include a combination of set dances, part of a lesson, teacher / child / parent interviews, voiceovers etc. We understand if you may be nervous talking in front of a camera and there are many ways around this which we can discuss with you. If you have show footage, we can also add that in.
EDIT AND FINAL CUT
Once filming is complete, we will then edit your video and send you a watermarked proof for your perusal. You can then let us know if any changes are required, and we will send updated versions until you are happy.
Once happy, we then ask for the agreed full payment by bank transfer. On receipt of payment, we send you a high resolution version (no watermark) which will load quickly for online platforms, along with a royalty free music track (if applicable) so that your video doesn't get blocked on social media.
